did you replace the key part?? or it AND the back part where the electrical is located?

99s had a severe problem with that electrical parts failure- it carried in to later years as well

does the green color KEY flash on the dash when you go to start it?
That's the immobilizer verifying status

Since you replaced the key lock cylinder that means you are now using a different key to try to start the car. This is why the car will not start. There is an immobilizer system installed on these cars to prevent theft so not any random key can be used to start the car. First make sure the new key has the provided chip inside, then find the diy on how to link the key to the immobilizer system. If you dont want to do it yourself, you can get the dealer to do it for you.

Its not the key or the switch. Since you replaced the whole thing key included you HAVE to bring it to the dealer or a locksmith capable of reprogramming the immobilizer system to match the new key.

take the word of our Guru of all things TL= fsttyms1 (Fast Times Won!)

get out the phone book and call a locksmith, they come to you rather than tow car to dealer
An independent shop/owner is usually better than big ad/ big name type place

Oh, and while your at it you should change the tumbler pins in the door locks to match your new key incase your fob ever stops working, tyhat way you can still unlock the door with your new key. There are youtube videos on how to do it
