I have a 2003 TL 3.2 and up until today I've had no problems with it. I drove to a friend's and was there for about 3hrs. I came out and tried to start it but it just clicked. The lights, radio and windows worked but it wouldn't start...Does anyone have any idea if it's the starter or altenator?

 

did you try jump starting it from another good battery?

 

Yes and it still wouldn't start.

 

Test battery. If it tests good it may be starter or solenoid.

 

sometimes you can replace a certain part of the starter- the selenoid
otherwise its rebuilt starter time'
remove entire starter and take to a parts store for free testing

research prices online for local stores and rockauto.com to go in armed with knowledge
stores will match their own online divisions prices in most cases

 

if a battery is dry inside, or othwerwise messed up- it wont take a jump
it can hold volts and no amps

how old is your batt- more than 4 years? take it to the store for charging and testing

note for those with full coverage insurance- many companies now offer a ~aaa like~ road service/towing for 10-20 dollars A YEAR!!
