Wierd Noise

Had a quick question as I was driving today my car is sounding a little wierd It sounds like it has a custom exhaust on it , when I drive 20-30 mph it idles above 1500 to 2000 Rpms and then seems like it takes a long time to get outta that specific gear. No check engine light and I doubt its the tranny bec no jerking of any such. Maybe can a exhaust leak cause this. Also when I start the car it starts up pretty loud after replacing air filter.

If there was any exhaust modification it should be quite obvious.
Our cars are really quiet in stock form.

Hey Hondakid23, perhaps when the air filter was recently replaced....the top retaining cover for the airbox enclosure is misaligned or a bad seal.

If the exhaust is still original from the factory, it may require a closer inspection for loose joints or cracks causing the exhaust to leak out somewhere. It's best to do this up on a rack.

Yes thats what I thought because I had a striped screw and had trouble opening the air filter.

yeah the slight hang up in gear would be charecteristic of a vacuum leak... weird that the mil doesn't come on. And if you were to remove the air box completely (or if u install a cold air) it results in a sound that is similar to an exhaust leak. So yeah prolly a leak somewhere in the intake like 3.2TLc said.
