Where is the fuel filter located?

Where is the fuel filter located?

...im having problems with my 2000 TL i had diagnostics run and theres a problem with the fuel filter which i plan 2 rplace myself and the idle control which i plan 2 have replaced by a professional. ive been looking all over the internet to find where the fuel filter is located on the car [in-line, in-tank, etc.] but i cant find the info i need. can anyone help me out...

...so your sayin i gotta drop the whole tank 2 replace it huh...

I believe you can get to the top of the tank, and therefore the filter, from inside the truck. Perhaps someone with a Helms manual could confirm.

shouldnt it be replaced at a certain mileage? i thought i heard something about it getting dirty in my old maxima, I dont know if this is the same case in the tl...

...it mighta been cuz i went on vacation for 2 weeks and the car just sat in the driveway the whole time i was gone, therefor causing fuel 2 settle in the tank and clog the filter. just a theory...

...its been 11 days since the check engine light came on and i havent replaced the fuel filter yet but the light just went off today. all i did was put sum fuel system cleaning agent in the tank about a week ago so im thinkin that mighta cleaned up a clog, if thats what happened...

there was probably never a clog. Unless you have had bad gas or someone put something in your tank it shouldn't get dirty in there.

yes u can get it from inside of the trunk...there are about seven 8mm screws that hold it down the fuel pump and the filter is on there

Would anyone recommend changing the fuel filter after the car hits 100K??
Or is it just a waste of $$

Here is a pic of my 3rd Gen. I would think that the 2nd Gen is very similiar. I think the filter entry is that Almunuim round plate with the black wiring attached.

yup most of the new honda/acura thats where the pump is located but alot of times thats just the fuel pump
