well, I pulled the code from my TL that has CEL on

The results are in. The code reader says that there is NO TROUBLE CODES!

I would like to avoid taking it to a dealer. The CEL light is always on, and the TCS light is on approximately 25% of the time the car runs.

Is it common to throw a CEL in err like this? The code reader is brand new so I can only assume it is working correctly.

Any ideas are welcomed

Take your car to AutoZone and have them use their scanner.

Is there a way to reset the CEL light with the scan tool? If so, I'd do that and see if the light comes on again.

Are you serious? Well i guess you gonna pay the hour labor the dealer charges. Its not like they working on your car all they're doing is plug in the scanner which takes no more than 5 minutes

Why not? they are free. and have better scan tools than what ever you used that wasnt able to get the code. If your dead set against them bring it to the dealer. Afterall they have the best scan tools

I am reading your replies and thinking you are ALL nuts. I just realized that I have always assumed Autozone was Pep Boys. I assumed Pep Boys was the shop that offered the free scans. If you have ever stepped foot into the Pep Boys here, or peaked into the garage, you would see the misunderstanding more clearly

I will look to see where an Autozone is nearby and try that out.
