Ok guys well I'm back with another problem. Today I was at hhgregg. My car was running fine on the way there, but not when I went back out to the car. When I came out and tried to start it up, but instead of revving down to idle, it would just drop down to the bottom line, barely firing at all ( just a few hundred rpms)
so I go back into hhgregg, then about half an hour later my mom arrived so I tried to show her what was wrong with it, and it worked fine! Then drove fine all 30 miles home.
What's up with that? I know I have some serious exhaust leakage, and the muffler shop said maybe a bad cat too.

 

Oh, and a little bit more info...
It's a 2000 TL, with no performance upgrades besides a removed intake resonator. The car has started fine in the cold before, and it was about 40 degrees out, so that shouldn't be the problem.

 

im having the same problem, also 2000 tl stock no resonator, my friend said it could be dirty injectors, get some injector cleaner and put it in your gas with a full tank and run it down to the light then fill back up see if it does it again.

 

I just did the injector cleaner like two tanks ago. I might try it again as a last resort. But I think the problem is that the tps needed calibrated, which I can't figure out how to do. I replaced the iacv and nothing changed.

 

The TPS on these cars is a fixed unit and not really intended to be calibrated/adjusted. You can try if you have a volt/ohm meter, but you may make things worse.

 

Then what am I supposed to do?

The revs just go kinda funky sometimes, but I haven't encountered the starting problem again.

I'm going to PM Acura2g and hopefully he can help...

 

Can anyone help me out? The revving is getting all weird now. Driving at 25-30 this afternoon, the revs were constantly bouncing up and down.

I will try checking the antifreeze to make sure I've got plenty, once the car is cool.
I did notice a puddle of some light green stuff under the car after is was parked in the garage a few times, so it might be leaking. My dad said it looked like oil, and I thought it looked like antifreeze, but neither of us looked really closely.


When the weather is a little nicer, I will probably be putting in a new gas tank and transmission, so it looks like I might need to add another fix to the list

 

having the same prob w/ idle and cel on. went to auto zone for free diagnostic and it said random misfire on several cylinders but where do i start. it could b some ekg valve or even a vacuum hose. any ideas on where to start
