Arrow Caliper guide pin stuck! Replace whole assy?

I was planning to replace my pads and rotors with rotora from Excelerate. During my disassembly, I found the left lower caliper guide pin is locked. Do I need to replace the whole subassembly or can I possibly clean and pack with grease (what type?) add a new boot and reassemble? If I need the whole subassembly, which one. I saw one marked RMD which I have no clue what it means. Does a new guide pin come with a new boot?

7 06453-S0K-505RM CALIPER SUB-ASSY., L. FR. (RMD) 001 2003 TL $75
7 45019-S0K-A01 CALIPER SUB-ASSY., L. FR. 001 2003 TL $146

Any help is appreciated greatly. This is my first attempt at brake replacement myself.

you can sometimes clean it out and reuse it, but kinda depends on if you can actually get the slide out if not too siezed in there
for grease, use the stuff that they sell to put on where the pads slide

RMD=remanufactured/rebuilt

if you do replace the caliper, both sides should be done (in pairs), and not just one side (like replacing pads in an axle set, and not just one courner)

How long have they been on there? Ever flushed the fluid? I would probably just get some reman. units from a parts store, flush the fluid and replace them, unless you know the car's history well. It's a time saver & you get new hardware with them. A great time to do the Legend caliper swap for improved braking for same cost.

spray the guide pin with some penetrating lubricant. I had this happen on my old Prelude. The pin should let loose after the oil penetrates. Get a can of penetrating blaster lubricant. Clean the pin and guide off with fine grit sand paper or steel wool/lubricate it and re-install. When I live in Ohio mine seized up because of some salt that got into it. The boot wasn't seated properly. I now service my brakes yearly and lubricate the guide pins/spray the rubber boot with silicone to keep it from cracking/leaking.

Thanks for the advice. I can get the pin to turn around, but not out. I'll try the penetrating lubricant 1st. The boot seemed fine, but in PA there's lot's of road salt in the winter and it probably leaked in. I changed the oil while I was at it and neglected to see that the last filter left it's ring on because I had the wheel off for the brakes and could see the filter without climbing underneath. Upon backing my car out, I noticed a hissing sound. To my surprise it was the oil shooting out between the two filters! Now my new garage floor is tarnished with >3qts of oil. I used kitty litter to soak it up. Any other advice on removing the oil stains?

very lucky to notice that oil leak right away, could have siezed your motor up,

but also on the older 4 cylinder honda's it could have easily started a fire cause the filter is right above the exhaust; so hot oil+hot exhaust=nothing good

since your replacing your rotors and pads you might as well upgrade to Legend dual piston calipers as they make a noticeable difference in stopping power. I got Raybestos reman'd ones from rockauto.com for about $100 each for the front. I don't see the point in trying to mess with an old caliper that's seized or has any other issue like what you are experiencing. You can get reman'd units cheap and they will perform much better.

I use to live in N. Ohio. Road Salt galour! All winter long. My front drivers side lower pin seized years ago. It came out after letting it soak with the lubricant and all was well. Brakes (especially where road salt is used) requires maintenance. After having the pin sticking in the Prelude, I started servicing them every summer/greasing the pins/checking the rubber boots.
My old work buddy Mark decided to change his oil years ago. I offered to help. He said nah, I'll do it myself. He also left the old oil filter gasket on and sprayed the garage floor with a couple qt's of oil. Live and learn I say. Next time you'll look for it stuck on there.
