Weird Clicking Sounds...PLEASE HELP!!!(Transmssion?)

Hello...
I got three questions about my acura.

1. I just got my 1999 Acura TL, recently I notice a clicking sound (sound like transmission shifting gear) every time I press the break. It is not REALLY loud; it's just a "Ca!" sound. I think it happen only when I was on 1st or 2nd gear and then I press the break. Like, I can really hear it when I was in traffic jam or in the Parking Garage.

2.Also, in the morning, when I am driving out of my neighborhood, I can feel it's shifting gear from 1st gear to 2nd gear because it kinda jerk. However, after the car is warm (like 10 minutes) it won't do that very noticeabley.

3.Also, in the morning, I shift the gear to Reverse, I can feel the engine move, like the whole car shake for the sudden when I shift the gear to Reverse. However, I already changed one of the engine mounts half year ago...Do know why its doing that

Thank you very much for the HELP!!!

It might be the motor mounts. Mine made like a loud clunk sound. Two of mine were bad.

Have the mounts looked at. They are most likely shot.

#1 and 3 is more likely the eng mounts.

#2 it is normal with 2nd gen TL, that is why acura has the fluid warmer, if you drive the car in the morning without warming up, it will jerk when it shifts from 1 to 2. warm up the car for like 3min and you should be okay, acura does not give that solution to owners because it sounds rediculous, or just drive slowly in the morning in first 5 min, or drive fast on 1st gear, and ease on your gas to let the gear drop itself into 2nd gear. If you pay attention to the gears, you will know when it is going jerk hard if you gun on the gas. you can feel it would not shift out of 1st gear normal, and if you push it, it will jerk.

Yes they wear out often. I would look into them.

As for your oil leak. Is it forsure the oil plug? Is it stripped out? I would try a new plug and washer.

Hello...
I am just wandering if it is the engine mount's problem, will it do any harm to my car if i do not change it? If yes, what are they?

Also, what is the cost to change the engine mount for 1999 acura tl?

Thank you very much

Sure it will damage other things if the mounts are broken with excessive play.

Just in case you didn't realize it, there are more than just the one mount which could be going bad. The purpose of these mounts is to isolate the motor's vibration and torque for the TL's operating smoothness. They do wear out, requiring replacement which expenses are dependent on the brand of part and the prevailing rate of labor involved. Buy better "OEM" parts and install them yourself, if capable .....this will save you half the overall costs of the job.

The oil leak you mentioned may very well be coming from the front motor mount which is hydraulically assisted and is known to leak when it is shot.

Hello...
I have replaced my Engine mount, the rear one is bad. It has stop the third problem..
However, the first problem is going on...I still can hear the clicking sound when I am stopping...sometime it only made 1 clicking sound..and sometime is made 2 or 3 or 4 clicking sound when I am stopping (or slow down).

I am wandering if it's something from the wheels or not ( I just notice the clicking sound is near the engine area)...

Please help!! I love my tl...

Thanks

I have the same problem. When i brake, there is a constant click click click noise. I had a mechanic check my brake and he said it might be the mechanism, clips or something losened up. I will check my mounts though to see if they are bad also.

I already have my mounts check, and the rear mount just got fixed.
For the brake problem...DID you got it fix, if yes, did it fixed the clicking noise?

Is it possible that you can tell my what the specific mechanism, clip it is?

THank you very much
