It's not an alignment...
It's the axle...
I had the same problem...drive side axle...had it changed...it came back...now they tell me to change the passenger one but I thought the same thing (wtf...will the new one go bad too?)

I kept slamming it more and more and the vibration kept getting worse...finally...I was fed up...they told me axle so I decided to test it out since my last free alignment was coming up. I raised it to 1 tight finger gap all around (1 1/4" threads at bottom) and the vibration has basically gone away. Try it...I'd rather have it low but not too slammed than have it vibrate. The vibration was making me hate driving the car.

Good luck man!

are you tires balanced correctly?? vibrations comes from unblanaced tires, bad allingment, bad toe, tie rods, end links how do your bushing look like? If it was the axle than the vibration would be caused in lower speeds as well as going at 40-45 MPH!

First, please use some punctuation marks, please! Had a real hard time understanding.

Second, I'd say its the axles too. Pretty common problem if you're really low. So if you did get the alignment already, its probably the axles.

Unbalanced wheels will cause vibrations at ALL high speeds. Not just the range he is saying.

unfortunately not...I wonder how the airbag guys do it...I guess they slam it to show off and then raise it to drive.

You have too much angle on the Drive axle. You have to raise your ride up. I had the same problem.

exactly...the solution is pretty easy...and free. and if you got an alignment they probably have warranty...raise it up a 1/2 inch or more and then get it aligned. Problem solved.

this is probably a dumb question...but how exactly do you raise the suspension without purchasing new suspension parts? I'm having vibration problems and have tried everything i know of to get rid of it...its been over a year now with no solution. All the shops say its the wheels and tires...but i just purchased them brand new for this reason and just had a road force balance today and they checked out perfect. my car IS lowered though...my next step was to replace the axles...but if all i have to do is raise it 1/2 inch or so and get an alignment...i'm all for it. only thing is knowing how to raise it...please let me know. I'm about ready to give up on this TL as much as i love it...it drives like crap when vibrating when going 60+ mph.

Szucceedly what are you lowered on? There are two main ways to lower your ride heoght., one is to replace the stock springs (and hopefully shocks/dampers too), and the other is to replace the springs/shocks with a set of coilovers - some of which are adjustable in height.

Depending on what suspension components you have, you may be able to raise the ride height who changing any parts.

Yeah...the raising recommendation was made with the assumption that you are on coilovers...like me.

PS...when I had a heavy friend in the car...the vibration returned and it annoyed me enough to have the passenger axle changed out. Lowered back to the Tein recommendation after so the new axle would be used to that height and it's been perfect for about a month now. No more vibrations!

did you feel your vibration issue all over the car? steering wheel, seats only? or steering wheel only?

it was a weird shimmy feeling...MOSTLY felt from around 25 to 40mph...although I'm sure there are variations on that depending on your drop etc...the whole car would do it...I'd watch my valentine one rock back and forth. It sucked.

raising it up?
Dang...it was hard for me...I liked it low...but not worth it driving like shit.
If not...get the your axle changed out...most likely the passenger one...and you should be golden. I talked to the local shop that did the labor ($40) as opposed to my $60 hookup at the dealership that is not reliable...they told me they'd only charge $95 for an axle plus the 40 for install. $135 ain't too bad! I opted to pay $150 thru my friend at the dealership for the part though cause I wanted OEM.

Raised it up about 10mm today all around and problem solved. Like what everyone above me said, its putting the axles out of spec, and as u get faster its less noticable cuz ur going so fast. Unless someone will manufactuer a axel to accomidate the drop.mayb shorter in length.

Check into the motor mounts getting loose.

My side mount was broken completely and my front lost all its oil. Had similar vibrations, at lower speeds, usually while slightly accelerating.

The engine wanted to "wobble" and sent weird vibrations through my axles, as well as prematurely wearing my wheel bearings.

Good luck

Auto Transmission/17" Base oem rims 235/45/17-

Problem: I was lowered at first with a bit less then a finger gap and I had the vibration. Accelerating in first gear is fine, but then once its is in second u can feel the vibration at the lower rpms. Then goes away mid way thru second gear as the rpms get higer, then aren't felt in the higher gears.

Soution: keep raising the height say(5mm) at a time till ur satisfied with the apperance and the amount of vibration u can deal with. Or just till its completely gone.

My Tl is lowered 2 inches on Tein ss..Does the same thing..axles replaced same thing..
Being that low stresses the axles..new axles don't solve the problem..

but they look and drive so much better lowered! mine drives way better on Eibachs and Bilstiens, but I'm not slammed on coilovers. Lowering is no different then any other mod as long as you go into it know that every part you change affect other aspects of the vehicle and make provision with in the operating limits your good.

Yeah I have somewhat the same problem. except mine is accompanied by what feels like wheel slip on the driver’s side wheel when turning right and when a lot of downward force is applied to the suspension. My car is also lowered, I do have adjustable camber kits, and I have them set correctly. I have replaced all the front end components (except for the steering rack itself). I set the sub frame so that it is straight, and I made sure the radius arm bushings were good. so things I have done.
1. Outer tie rods, drive shafts, ball joints, and wheel bearings.
2. New tires
3. Straightened the sub frame
4. Raised the ride height
5. Adjusted the camber
6. Got an alignment
after all that I was still getting a vibration through the steering wheel, and through the entire car, which at 60mph plus feels like I don't have the lug nuts tightened.
Things I’m left with.
1. Bent rim
2. Steering rack (which i am replacing)
3. Passenger side drive shaft doesn't seem to mate properly with the intermediate shaft.

I had that wiggle at around 25mph to 35 mph when I first lowered. I attribute it to the car's axles getting used to being at a certain height for the first 5 years of life. I changed axles after and I guess starting fresh in the new height, they were happy. Never really returned.

It sounded like a bent wheel since you have already gone threw the list of other things to check for. But if the drive shaft is not install properly and is turning out of balance it will cause major vibrations. Also its a long shot but you may want to have a different shop check the balance on the wheels, the only reason I say this is because last time i had tire put on it quickly developed a bad vibration, when I had it aligned I ask them to check the balance and all four wheels were out. I think they charged me $5 a wheel. Don't give up these kind of problems are frustrating but once you get it figured out it will be worth it.

yeah, but when I move the wheels around, it stays on the same corner. I jacked it up and it got a lot better. I need to replace the rack. But the moral of the story here is that on these TL's if ur gunna do suspension work, they aren't as forgiving as a lot of other cars, so you have to be super attentive to details. and yeah all these little things are aggravating. The shake is all but gone now, but it gets worse depending on how much gas I have which says to me another alignment. And yeah prolly getting the wheels double checked would be a good idea before the allignment
