Please help.... Tranny feels like in neutral when in gear

The past month or so it has been shifting (from park, rev, and 1st-5th) slower than usual getting progressively worse. It would still drive fine though up until this morning after i got off work. 10 min into my drive home on the freeway it starts to feel like the car would shift into neutral then to 2nd or 3rd then back to 5th (after i played with it in sport shift mode). When almost home it just shit out, any gear i would shift to would just feel like its in neutral. i managed to get it to a parking lot in 1st at very low revs otherwise it would just stop moving again. I checked the fluid and Im pretty sure there was fluid on the stick so idk what the issue could be. maybe my torque converter? Or a clogged tranny filter? Please help. I need my car to drive to work its my only transportation.

Make sure solenoids are all clear and clean, and spin filter is new. Clog of fluid passage is the cause of the problem.

Hey UBERTL, while I don't have a clue as to your car's mileage or tranny condition.....all I can say is: Be prepared for the dreaded worst case scenario !!!

If I were in your shoes right now, I'd make damn sure that the fluid level was up. Next, a last ditch effort would be to perform a drain & fill of the tranny using Honda DW1 fluid. It would'nt hurt to change the filter and maybe even try cleaning the solenoid screens.

Make sure that all of the wiring connectors are free of corrosion and secure. Also check the ground wires. Did this problem just come up out of the blue.....or has it been brewing recently ? God, why does it always happen at the wrong time ? Usually, you'll get some sort of fore warning signs.....but not always ! Good luck bro.

Hey UBERTL, ya may wanna buy a bike to get to work until ya get some wheels.

Those codes P0730 { Shift Control Problem } and P0740 { Lock-up Control System Problem } require checking the line and clutch pressure. The various solenoid control valves may be clogged. Check the fluid condition and level for starters, but don't get your hopes up. There are several solenoids, which have been previously discussed in threads that you can locate by performing a search on the tranny solenoids.

Check the range switch and the shift cable adjusment too. But if either of these were out the gear indicator lights on the pannel would most likely not light, and it could also feel like you were engaging the different possitons slightly off of their normal positions. (I.E. D5 engages a closer to neutral and not directly across from the opening for seq shift mode

I changed the top linear solenoid with the atf filter and code p0740 went away. I am still having the same issue with p0730 gear ratio issue. I will try to see if the front solenoid is going to clear this.

I google this and it goes to a link of a YouTube to show you how to replace the ATF. It was hard.
