Trunk has puddle of water over donut!

I searched and could not find anything remotely similar. Here's the problem: Me and some co-workers went to lunch one day and I volunteered to drive.

I have a 1999 Acura TL 3.2, 140,000 miles. Anyway, one guy gets in the back seat and says it's damp and he then notices green mold in the crack of the seats. The fabric part of the seat belt is soaked as is the foam part under the leather.

I crack the trunk, lift off the trunk cover to take a peek at the donut and to my utter shock the freaking donut is completely under water. A good 3-4 gallons of water is in my trunk. The trunk cover is sopping wet, as is my golf bag.

I check the seals and they look okay. No cracking or dry rotting to the naked eye. I decide to take a glass of water and pour it on the back windshield and observe. The water funnels down the windshield and into the trunk channel and zooms into a crack between the brake light casing and comes out the bottom of the car into a puddle on the driveway. Not sure how the hell it is puddling in the trunk. I am at a loss. Any help would be appreciated.

I've seen others post about clogged sunroof drains causing that. You could get into the trunk while somebody runs water over the car & see if you can find the source.

I've seen those posts of the clogged sunroof drains, but most likely it's the tailghts seals that are letting the water in. What I did in my case was to take the tailights out and apply sealant around that gasket and problem solved, real easy.

I had that same issue (leaking tail light seals) on another car. Silicone to the rescue.

yup, its either the tail light(s), 15min fix or the sun roof drains in which u will have to take out the side panal and clean them out, not sure if the drivers side has on but i saw that the passengers side had one.
