Transmission ticking sounds
I have a question that my 2001 Acura 3.2 TL with 106,000 miles has a ticking sound after I change the gear P to R or D. I bought this used car a month ago. I've done inspection at the dealer, and they told me the car is good. (I paid $1000 for timing belf at that time...)
I have already read that 2001 Acura model has ticking sound. Is it sound like "tick tack" every I change gear between D and R?
Also when I drive, I often hear a sound of ticking without changing gear. Is it normal?
Oh, there is also a slight delay action when I change the gear R to D when I accelete the pedal. Is this also normal?
I'm just worrying to buy this model...please help me.

I have a 99TL with the 4 speed. 121,000 miles. Mine does the same thing. I suspected it's a constant V. joint going bad. I took it to the local Honda/Acura Specialist garage to have them check it out. They couldn't find anything wrong in the front end. They are the local specialists, and only work on Honda products.
Sometimes it clicks in D when shifting between gears. I don't think it's the tranny. Also the tranny (as with other honda products I have owned) can shift hard when going from D to R or P to R. No worries there. All 3 of mine have done that. Sometimes smooth as silk/sometimes not. When I took it to the garage it wasn't doing the clicking noise thing. Started doing it again yesterday. I am figuring that the CV joint will eventually get worse if that's the cause and then I'll replace it.
My Tranny shifts perfectly at 121k

i really dont notice mine. but what i do know is that if i put it from P to R and reverse then down to D and drive, the next time i step on the brakes i hear click noises. idk if this is the same noise that you are talking about
I have the same problem as you nhm23. I had suspected that it was a CV joint going bad. I took the car to the local Honda Acura / Independent garage and had them go over the front end. They couldn't find anything wrong. I still think it's an intermittant problem with a CV joint. Sometimes it makes the clicking noise/even when changing gears and sometimes not. I'm keeping watch over it. Right now it's not making the noise. Could also be a brake pad/caliper noise. My brakes pads are about worn down to the wear indicator.
I have had a ticking sound as well, and it sounds like it is right behind the gauges, just on the other side of the firewall...and it is. It is the EVAP canister purge valve, and it looks like this.

It's in the middle of the pic, to the left of the fuse/relay box, and behind the brake fluid resorvior. If you hear ticking from this area, it is probably coming from that.

I have on 03 TL-S and the tick-ing sound comes from the one pictured. Is that part something to be worried about? Is it expensive to change? What does it do?

It's a little solenoid/valve that basically handles changes in air pressure from inside the gas tank as the gas level goes down and air comes in. That may not be exactly right, but close enough. Anyway, the sound is more of an annoyance than anything. Eventually you may get a 'check engine light' (CEL) if it gets bad enough. I got a new one at the dealership (only place you can get it except ordering online), and it was about $60 for the part. I changed it myself.
do you have a part number you can share? the noise is getting more annoying... or if you have a cheap alternative maybe...

No cheap alternative, but here is a link with diagram and part number. http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/...All&vinsrch=no It's number 002 in the illustration. Only $40.85 from these guys.
