Tlp 6 speed conversion

I am planning on buying the front half of a cls 6 speed mt. Should they cut the car behind the shifter, would there be any part of the wire harness in harms way? Thanks.

Posts: 46,495 I dont remember which harness it is, but be prepared to do custom wiring to get all teh airbags and door locks and windows and speakers to work. Thats why i say to keep all teh wiring possible. I would almost look for a junk yard that has the cl-6 and talk to someone and see if they can cut the harness inside the car and ship it to you and repin it.

Except for the doors, what problems do you think I may encounter along these lines? Considering my set up. Thanks.

what are you talking about? the harnesses to the airbags go to the main SRS module not the ECU, so you wouldnt touch that doing a conversion. Same with the speakers and doors, they have their separate connectors.

Check fsttyms1's 6-speed conversion thread in the 2nd gen TL main forum. Its stickied at the top, and lists the parts you need for the conversion. It only involves wiring to various engine sensors/controls, gauges, and engine-performance related sensors. Nothing with the radio or doors is involved for this conversion, other than hooking those respective harnesses to the new ones.

Where are you from? Are you looking at the CL-S clip in the black market? I personally hope not, as many of us have been pooling our funds together for it

Get teh modules that way you dont have to do any custom wiring.

If you go the route i did you will have to do some. Unless they cut thru the middle of the dash there really isnt much that they will damage. About the only real thing would be the connectors going to the Cig outlet in the center console and the parking brake switch. And i said what i said because the 03 CL has dual stage airbags. The TL 99-01 has single stage. If you have a 02-03 the airbag wires will connect.

The modules you mention, that is still being worked on, and has not been tested. Do not want to sound negative but not sure how it is going to hold up for the long haul, meaning 5-10 years. Who knows if the guy who is making will find a new hobby and does not want to play around with it to find a fix if or when anything goes wrong.
