Picked up an 01 TL for fun.

Looking into it.....

SRS light has always been on since i got it as per previous owner. Car is running great, 50K miles on an 01 TL... More than decent shape. My questions are:

1) once I engaged the hand brake to test it out, the BRAKE light came on (great!), but... its still on although the brake is disengaged. I checked the brake fluid level, all is well.. no leaks.

2) the battery light is on on the left. Manual says that the system isnt charging jack if its on... I kept it on, used a charger but to no avail. I also ran the car for a while with high beams, stereo, seat heaters, lights and everything else electrical on for a while... all is well as well... Anyone have similar weird things? Help out....

 

Your alternator might be failing. If you don't have a good mechanic, I think a Sears service center might check your charging system out for free.

Thanks bob, ill take it to a mechanice but how does it just fail out of nowhere?

I also turned on everything electrical and drove around for a long time... If the battery wouldnt be charging, I think it would stop, wouldnt it?

Also, whats with the BRAKE light? Its on but my fluid level is fine, the lights work, and the car does BRAKE..
