Hey Hondakid23, yeah...clean everything up, get all the carbon build up out of the passageways leading to the EGR port. Be careful to note the positioning of the gasket when re-assembling. If ya need some tips on cleaning, there's lots of threads posted on this subject...even in the "DIY" sticky. Just get a coat hanger, a wire brush and a few cans of spray cleaner to dissolve the gunk.....then proceed to get the shit out !

Hey man, it's just a simple and readily available improvision to navigate and clear the EGR passageways which have alot of nooks, turns and crevices. You can use whatever you want, but ya gotta break the crud loose somehow !

The coat hanger worked for me.
