accessing the air filter

whats the easiest way to access the air filter if you have a CAI? it makes it hang down near the front and its too low to access from under the hood and is blocked by the mudguard underneath. i thought the mudguard would just come off in the one small piece by the drivers side wheel but it appears to be a massive chunk that would require taking the whole bumper off.
So my question is how do i access the filter on a CAI. its a 2003 type s if that makes a difference.
Thanks.

Opening that splash guard is only one bolt and two or three clips on my 2002 TL-S. It should be the same for yours.

when i checked it out it looked as though the splash guard was one big chunk all through the wheel well. i didn't have it on a jack so i couldn't get the best view. Ill attempt to get a better look under it. thanks for such a quick response.

you don't remove the splash guard, you just open it up to access the CAI filter.

There's like 3 push pins and a screw. The splash guard is plastic. Just pull the pins and screw then pull the guard down. You have to take your wheel off to make it easiest. I'm a bigger guy so I need the room for access.
