Tl burning oil

Well never thought that my tl would be doing this. Did an oil change about a week ago and decided to check this weekend and found it between the two fill levels on the dipstick. This is the first time I have ever had to add any oil in the 170 thousand km ive owned it.

The car in the last week was never pushed nore did I pull it into vtec once. I just more or less sits and idles in our traffic. I did switch oil brands this last oil change and sadly used a fram filter. Ive searched for leaks and have found nothing, and the coolant hasnt changed color.

Recently the car went in for some stupid fuel injector cleaning and soon after that my rear main seal went and it went out leaking tons of oil. I was maybe wondering could the product have dried out my valve seals although I dont see any smoke upon start up or after a second gear pull and nothing from redline to idle on de-acceleration. The car is due for a valve adjustment tho.

Any ideas or direction to go would be very help full.

Ya, I believe sometimes when you switch up oil brands and/or type if not do needless cleaning to the engine like the fuel injector then stuff can go screwy

Mine always sits between the lines. If your putting the correct amount in it shouldn't be all the way to the max fill mark.

It ended up being the oil filter gasket was damaged and would leak down ever so slightly.

doh! always make sure the OLD filter gasket gets removed from the engine,
and the new filter is in good condition to use~

a rear main seal leak is something that happens to cars- and its not related to a fuel injection cleaning
Yes fuel cleaning service is good- many of us do it at home using seafoam or bg or wynns
Anyone who says the purpose and process is worthless doesnt have years of experience working on cars and taking engines apart!

With the advent of ethanol 10% in gasoline- there is extra crud being produced and left behind- that needs to be cleaned from the valves and pistons
Some products are safe to use in the engine oil to clean the glaze and crud from the piston rings and oil galleys
All of it will help a TL run like new,,, and keep running that way
