Quick Question, when in tiptronic mode...is the car supposed to automatically shift from 1st to 2nd for you? or is something wrong with my transmission? Cause i want to shift from 1st to 2nd :p

 

it automatically shifts from 1st to 2nd unfortunately

 

unfortunately you dont have control over first gear in manual mode, you can gate shift it by bringing the shifter down to 1, then slide it over to 2, and up to d3,d4,d5. The ecu short shifts first gear which sucks.

 

Aww wish it would let you shift...i feel like i have a 4speed aha

 

its to keep you from running around a parking lot blipping off the rev limiter when you forget its in SS and get off the freeway~

some years do allow full control of 1-2 in SS mode
Are you not getting redline under full throttle before it shifts?

You do know about our weak transmission clutches right?
DO NOT use SS to downshift into 3rd or 2nd,,that will eat the parts up fast

 

in most cases the auto trans will out upshift you- it knows all the engine conditions and rpm situation--better than a guage gives you

note: redline is above the max torque rpm- so you want to shift before then anyway--
if making the car move forward is your goal

take your car to a dyno and they can plot your exact torque lines, for peak shift points

 

I do know about the transmission clutches but i down shift all the time no problems yet

 

A little tough love will keep it from getting spoiled =]

 

you young guys with 2500 bucks burning a hole in your pocket-
go right ahead and downshift the crappola out of it at max rpm into 3rd and 2nd

not yet and ooops are often not far apart

 

see my many post on track day schools, and being on torque/rpm in right gear to rocket off the apex,,if not doing that= why are you abusing the trans?

backroad SS fun- you bet I do!!
but around town- let it take care of itself
