I let my sister drive my 2000 acura tl and she though D5 was to the left which in fact is the tiptronic. She had it in tiptronic and never shifted it, the engine started smelling like smoke and the car stopped, i started it yesterday morning and it tings now, when i accelerated it tings faster (its like ta ta ta ta), when i decelerate it makes no noise,and when i'm idleing it makes minimal noise.

Anyone have any idea what it could be?

 

Sounds like she did some damage. Id recomend bringing it in. She could have possibly overheated it or caused valve damage.

 

Ting is some good stuff, had it with rum when I was in Jamaica!

 

How far did she drive? Did she not feel the engine bouncing off the rev limiter? Damn that sucks. This is the second or third time I've heard about someone doing this.
