Aight so i got a 2000 tl and there is a ticking sound coming from under the hood on the driver side right by the firewall. Only when the car is in idle. The car has 275,000 miles and has been pretty strong. I fix what i can when i can and try to maintain it as much as possible. Regular oil changes and tranny flushes wit dw1 only. And pretty much all oem parts. Anyone got any suggestions or thoughts on it. Thanks

 

It's the purge control solenoid valve. You can ignore it, or replace it if the ticking bothers you.

Not much to elaborate on. With age they start to tick but still work just fine 99% of the time. Like anything else mechanical they can fail, but will be accompanied with an EVAP code.

Im also having a ticking sound. It is definitely coming from my purge solenoid - I can feel the ticking when I put my finger on it! I've replaced it once already and honestly, it might be worse now. I'm able to hear it quite audibly when idling with windows up inside the vehicle.
