Tail Light Question

Hey guys. I am getting a bit annoyed by something that has been bugging me. I have noticed when I turn on my lights only one bulb in each of the taillights turns on when the brakes are not being applied, compared to the newer TL's where they seem to have both on at once. I have the wire harness for the 02-03 lights, and was wondering if that is where the change would occur or if it isn't possible to change it on the 2000 TL, as it is programmed in or some crap. Here are pictures for comparison.
2002 TL:

My TL (before I got the 02-03 tails, but that doesn't matter for the purpose of this thread):

BUMP Anyone know why both of my bulbs don't light up? It seems like every other TL I see has them both on without the brakes being applied.

Its possible the bulbs that don't light up has the filament for parking burnt out. Have you tried swapping bulbs? Also, do all the bulbs light up when you hit the brakes?

All of the bulbs do light up when I hit the brakes. I will swap them around later and see if that makes any difference.

Have you ever changed your bulbs? The brake bulbs are dual filament I believe, so one of the filaments might have blown on those two bulbs.

Wrong bulbs? Burnt out? there are 2 filaments in each bulb.

So I had one extra bulb laying around, popped it into the passenger side one that didn't come on, immediately it came on. I had two broken filaments, just need to run by the dealership and buy another new one tomorrow.

You can probably get cheaper bulbs at Autozone or something...

You don't have to go to the dealer. The part number is 7443 Sylvania (Most other brands use the same number) and you can get those just about anywhere. Checker, AutoZone, Napa, Pep Boys, etc. Probably even WalMart.

I would go to one of those other places but with how close my dealership is to my school I might as well not go out of my way, at least not on the time constraints I have. Should I buy four new bulbs or just the one that I need? If it's just the one, I'll definitely go to the dealership, otherwise, I may go elsewhere.

the bulbs come in a 2 pack at the parts store for about 6 bucks
Of course they are special bulbs for the TL~ expect to get bent over at the dealer.
I replaced one brake light bulb, then 2 weeks later its mate on the other side.

At that point I decided all the lights should be replaced in pairs- as they get equal wear.

Acura charged my $5 for the one bulb, oh well, I'm impatient and that doesn't ever save money.
