Opened my sun-roof without a struggle. About an hour/45 mins later when i close it it decides to stall until it makes a cracking noise and dies out half way. The mechanism seemed to be dead. So i try and open it but it slides back without issue, i repeated the process about 3 times until it finally actually closed. Is there something jamming it or is my motor failing?
I had this issue once, whatever you do dont open it again.
Mine jammed on me after it made loud cracking noise then messing around with it I noticed that the drain channel was miss aligned.
Later on I decided to take apart the whole roof only to find out it was just 2 plastic pieces that broke from the glass.

Trust me when i say i wont open that for the life of me. Im just glad i got it to close and seal 100%, if not tht wulda meant leaks, and all other types of D. Thanks for the diagram though! SO is that part easy to replace?
If it does it again close it manually. The crank handle is in the trunk by the tire iron/jack. There is a plastic plug in the headliner in the back seat. Insert it there and crank it by hand.
Personally i would take the headliner off and remove and inspect the moon roof and track. Its not hard.

I had mine jam up years ago. And the manual crank didn't work either. After the dealer told $600 just to disassemble and find out whats wrong I said fuck it I won't be using my sunroof ever again.
I got bored one day took out half the car to get the whole assembly out and see what the issue was. Turns out the chain jumped all I did was drop the motor realigned the chain and done.
Saved myself $600+ and fixed it in about 3 hours. Took about a hour to get it all out and a 1.5 hour to figure it out and the rest is history. Has never given another problem
