This sucks!!!

So, as some of you are aware, I cleared my headlights on Sunday. It POURED here today, I mean, in sheets. I came out from the bar tonite, and wiped off my headlights, and they are fogged up! Damnit! What am I supposed to do now. Go through the entire painstaking process of taking the damn bumper off, and taking the headlights out, baking them, and ripping them apart again? Both headlights have moisture in them! I'm so mad right now! Maybe I should just buy two new headlights in order to save myself from going through the entire process again, and/or buying 2 new entire HID systems opposed to 2 new housings.

The only thought I have is to take the bumper off, take the headlights out, put a hairdryer to the sockets to dry them out, and then put silicone all around the outside to make sure the seal is good.

Seriously, I need some answers and thoughts. Any idea is a good idea right now. I have no idea what to do. All I know is I dont want to spend a fuckin fortune on new HIDS.

I told you this in your other thread as well and i will say it again, USE NISSAN HEADLIGHT SEALENT. Dont turn your headlights on now, coz the moisture could have made it to your ballast and if you turn them on you will end up blowing them. Take them off open them gently coz this time the silicone wont be sitting in pretty coz i am sure you use a whole lot of it and it will be all over the place. After you open the headlights use decent amount of time and effort to clean as much as possible then go to your local nissan dealer and ask for the stuff that i have mentioned in the following thread. You will need atlest one roll to do two headlights but trust me it will be worth it and a whole lot cleaner.

Damn... I was hoping I could get away with just putting additional silicone on the outside of the seal. I hate the thought of baking my headlights again... thats just a pain in the ass. But I guess I will have to do that in order to prevent me buying new HIDS.

I mean, I know its a half assed job, but its not feasible to put sealant all around the outside of the seal?

No, lets just hope that you didnt use adhesive silicone to seal the headlights because that would be a bitch to get off of the headlights. Go to the local nissan dealership and ask for the part number i mentioned in the above linked thread. If they ask for any more than 20 to 25 dollars then dont buy it from them and get it from the link provided in above thread, good luck.

I will so take you up on that... however if we continue to get rain like we did tonite, then I'm fucked either way. I'm just dreading going out in the morning to see what kind of damage has been done already. This weekend is not good for me anyways. I have to lecture at Kennesaw State University tomorrow, and then just regular bullshit on sunday, but next weekend is open for me right now. I guess it just depends on how sever the leakage is tomorrow. I'll let you all know. If I can survive the week, it will give me time to get the Nissan Headlight Sealant. I will give the dealerships a call on Monday to see how much they charge!!

Well I finally got the car washed since I cleared the lights, and the PAX light fogged up. I took the high beam bulb out and put a hair dryer to the hole to dry it up. The Drivers side was fine. I guess I will have to do something about it. Its rained several times since I did it, and the fogging has only occured once or twice, so the leak isn't too bad. It still needs to be taken care of though.
