Unhappy Stock rotor vs. Brembo Rotor

I have a 2003 TL with about 90k miles and had the car serviced at the dealership since the purchase of the car.

The problem I have with the car is the steering vibration when stepped on the brake. The dealer always says it's due to the warped rotors and had to resurface the rotors twice already. Resurfacing the rotors at the dealership isn't cheap.

Now that the car's rotors are beginning the misbehave again, am I better off just to take out the stock rotors and install the after market Brembo brand rotors? Do the Brembo rotors need to resurfaced at given interval just like the stock rotors?

I wouldnt pay dealer prices to have the rotors resurfacd. Any brake shop would do the same thing for about 10-20 bucks a piece. If they have already been resurfaced 2 times i would go and get new rotors. Brembo blanks are a good and cheaper alternative. Many people have had great luck with them. Remember to get new pads as well when replacing the rotors

Oh and welcometo the forum!

If you get the Brembo rotors and the new pads, online, where can you take them to be installed? And if you don;t get them online, where should you go to get these installed? Will the dealer carry Brembo?

Thanks
Erich

1. Any general mechanic or brake shop can do the job.

2. Online will usually be the cheapest and easy way to find them.

3. If you want to get them locally I would go to the Brembo website and do a
dealer lookup.

Powerslots by Frozen are really good against warping. However they are pricey, about $120 a piece. Mfg Part Number: 96795 for front.

Changing Brake Pads and Rotors are one of the easiest things to do on the car. I would even compare it to changing oil X 2. The same amount you would pay someone to do it for you is the same price you can pay to get yourself a nice tool set.

Lot so places can order brembo supplies for you but they will charge you full retail price for them, which is usually 40-50% more then how much you buy them for online. It's a no brainer...

Tire rack for teh brembos. I would also look into Rotora rotors. They are very high quality and all the members who have used them including myself really like them. You can get them thru our vendor Excelerate

Try www.rockauto.com. Good service, fast shipping. FYI, Brembo front rotors for a 2003 TL are $53.89 each from Rockauto.

I might get some Brembo rotors soon too I have to get something. There is this place around here that does free break diagnostics so im going to have them tell me whats wrong and which rotors and pads need repair. The thing I dont like about Brembo rotors is that there website is poorly set up. Oh well though I will find some place to order good rotors and pads online.
