Steady brake light on

Got my whole brake system done around 6 months ago, calipers, rotors, brakes, all of a sudden yesterday coming back from PA, the brake light came on and it has been on since, checked all the bulbs and everything is fine, called up the shop and they told me to bring the car in tomorrow, still under warranty, weird because I don't hear any squealing or feel any vibrating, getting it checked tomorrow but just wanted to get some opinions on what it could be. Thanks!

Wait, you said you checked the bulbs...but is it the "brake" light or the "brake light" light that's lighting up? (hopefully that made sense )

which "brake" light came on the Brake Lamp or the "Brake" brake light? Check the fluid level in the master cyl, make sure the float on the cap moves free.

Yes, Check the brake fluid level, and make sure the float is moving freely on the cap. Make sure the wires to it are pluged in as well.

Hey fsttyms1, checked the brake fluid and it was low so I topped it off and the "Brake" brake light went off, even though the problem is fixed, why do you think the brake fluid went low? Could it be because my car has 104,000 miles and it is a 1999 or when they changed the calipers, brakes and rotors they didn't top it of or maybe some leaked out. Would you still bring it back to the shop that did the brake system so they can double check? Thanks, appreciate your help!

How many miles on it now? And how low was it?

As the pads wear down, the fluid level drops slightly, because the pad travel farther. This means more fluid in the piston, and level drops in the reservoir.

I don't think you need to bring back to the shop. Leaks caused by the shop, you would have had this problem much sooner. But, check the level closely for the next few days to see if it changes.

Just under 104,000, the brake fluid was halfway below the top off. Thanks for your response.

Did you do the brake job or have it done? If it was done they should have topped it off. Keep an eye on it and see if it drops again. You may also want to have the brakes bleed with new fluid. Its a good thing to do once a year.

Glad you got it resolved.

And they don't close threads like that, only when it gets out of hand/against the rules.
