Sup guys.. I've been noticing this past week my TL has been having some trouble starting up. It will turn on with the first crank, but it just take like 2 seconds to start from the point when I initially turn the key. & anybody knows, 2 seconds is a LONG time to start a car.
Anyways this morning, it didn't start. I cranked it once, nothing. Twice, nothing. The 3rd time it DID start so I did a big whew. But later in the day it didn't do it.
Wondering if anybody on here has had any starter problems? I'm going to take it tomorrow to Autozone & take the starter out (if anybody can give me help/tips on how to do that, thanks!!) so they can check if it's completely bad. Don't wanna buy one and it's not that because I called & they said they won't accept returns on starters.

I'm not sure how to remove/replace the starter.
Where is it located?

It happened to me last week. Starter did not operate at all so I just tapped it with hammer and it worked but nothing happen again since then. May be your problem and mine are not the same.

when you have to tap the starter with a hammer= it means parts inside are sticking!
time to buy a replacement at any parts store

parts store can ck the `amp draw` of starter-while in the car- that shows if they are going bad in a certain way
they ck the alt, batt, and cables then too
Battery cables and the engine to frame/body grounds are really important

for longer starting time- spark plug miles? run fuel cleaner thru gas? dirty injectors cause start probs--cleaned TB air plate?
Done the egr passage and port cleaning of intake manifold??,,needed every 75kmiles and not in the book!

what year TL? 99s have bad ignition switches
