Speedometer HELP!

I accidentally pulled out the speedometer when i was messing around with the reverse glow gauges. Now i suspect its a little off. I stuck it back on with the engine on in which it should be at zero. However it seems like its about 10 mph off. Anyone know how i can fix this? Any help is welcome, thanx.

well the best way i know if is with the clear cover off and a friend who has a accurate spedo drive next to him at a steady speed (like 30) and set the cruise. then procede to stick the needle on (i had to do this)

if fsstyms1's procedure works for you then you're lucky. i messed up my friend's tachometer needle in his prelude and i found out that there was no way in hell to put it back in accurately. good luck. if worse comes to worse you can buy a used gauge cluster and swap out the speedo. as long as you *know* it's about 10mph off you can luckily compensate for it.

That's probably the best way to do it.

Another way to do it is to put the car on a dyno; it will give accurate speed readings (provided you put in the correct gear ratios, of course). Hold it at a constant speed and stick it back on. But this will cost probably anywhere from 50-100 bucks.

Can't edit after 5 minutes, bah.

I just wanted to correct myself -- you won't have to have the gear ratios; you mainly need that for proper torque readings... for a speed reading, it's taken directly from the dyno itself.
