Spark plug removal question
Ok, don't laugh and I can't believe that I am asking this but I have run into the following problem.
Trying to replace my spark plugs but when I go to remove existing they won't come out. I am applying a fiar amount of pressure to spin counter clockwise but this is not removing them and I am afraid to apply any more so that I don't snap them in half. Am I missing some trick here? Using a 5/8" plug socket with 8" extenison on 3/8" ratchet if this matters.
FYI, I tried several plugs thinking maybe one is frozen but have same issue and I was told yesterday by a dealership that they had all six out when they diagnosed 5 of 6 ignition coils bad

They must have over torqued them.
How long is the ratchet handle? Try a breaker bar w/ a length of pipe. Or, take it back to the dealership & ask them to break them loose then snug them so you can get it back home.
You are turning them ccw, right? Have to ask....

turn left -counter-clockwise to loosen
how long ago were the plugs out at dealer?
if you have a torque wrench, or borrow at parts store- spec is 16 foot pounds
if they are higher than that- the dealer is responsible to reset them to correct value.
they had them out- they are now LIABLE for any damage from being above torque (tightness) spec when you want to remove
strange they would pull all of them on a coil diagnosis--usually go off codes alone and try to sell you 6 coils --total service writer BS
guessing you didnt have them do that job
typically multi cyl misfire codes is ONE coil- buy 1 at local parts store $50
note: always reset ECU by removal of CLOCK fuse on passenger end of dash to clear and reset the ECU- forces a self test of systems so it finds the new-working coil
note: on old plugs, spray a little wd or pentrating lube into plug area and let sit, may make removal easier if its a corrosion issue

OMG in 20+ years of working on cars those were the hardest plugs I ever tried to get out.
Thank you for all responses and all are out now, a little pentrating fluid then slowly rocking plugs in and out broke them free.
I have ZERO faith in the dealership after seeing what I saw today! Absolutely disgusted to point where I want to file a complaint.
Here's the story, the other day the car started running rough like a misfire was happening then check engine and TCS came on. Run codes to see P0300, P0303, P0306 & P1399 P. Random misfire, #3 & #6 misfiring plus the coil bad. Figured let me check plugs first so when I first tried things wouldn't budge and not really having the time to play with this thing was ok with paying dealership to. They troubleshoot the system and told me that 5 of 6 coils were bad according to code and one appears to be new so doesn't need replacing. Guess which one was good and didn't need replacing? I was in for $134 to diagnose so I ask point blank "how do you know they are bad, from codes or did you check the coils as I find it hard for five to go at once?" Silence for a little then "we first pulled codes then tested the coils to find them". I tell them that I find it hard for five to go at once and stated that this is usually caused by something else to make all five bad. Was anything tested to see why all five went at once? response "no". I also stated that the car does not run like one cyl is firing normal...silence again.
So then asked (because of the spark plug issue) how do the plugs look from the misfiring? Silence then I asked did you remove all plugs. Response "Yes, we do that as part of the disgnostic you agree to."
So if all six plugs were removed then replaced why were 4 frozen solid one day after driving from dealer to home (15 minutes). Also, every coil screw was in there like it was in there for some time and I viewed the two front that appeared to have no tool inserted into them (this is my speculation but seeing that I started my career as an aircarft mechanic then engineer who truobleshot mechanical equipment/systems I would say my eye for these things is pretty good).
I don't have anymore time but will be testing all six coils to see how many are actual bad.
WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THIS COUNTRY AND THIS COUNTRIES WORK ETHIC?

Trending Topics
as I said before- based on loads of ziner experiences reported on here:
you most likely need only ONE coil, aftermarket part ok to use
the codes might lead to which is bad, its usually one of the listed-
you buy 1 and keep trying location until it runs better
or pull the power lead to each coil one at a time until no rpm drop- thats the dead one (that info for the non aircraft mechanics in the group)
Our ecu spits out exactly what you got when its not sure whats wrong!
Service Writer BS is what you were told- no direct contact between the tech and that writer ever occured, might even have gone thru a dispatcher!
tech makes note of codes on work order and proceeds to next job while awaiting approval of repairs.
Dispatcher decides what it needs/ sold- the Writers job is to call you for approval
the person you dealt with had to guess whats done on the diagnostic to justify the 1.5 hours they charge JUST to find out what they think is wrong, and charge 1.5 regardless of actual time spent being 5 minutes or 1 hour!! they always bring up the- `You agreed to` x amount and charge you that for sure
then charge more to actually change the part!!! what a scam
Any story of removed plugs and removed coils was a total fabrication.
thats why they call them service WRITERS = fluency in creating FICTION required
(guess who used to be one)
most of them are not even techs!!
just salesmen! this week its car repairs,, next week-- bowling balls.... door to door
telling the customer certain work was performed, and it wasnt really done,,,thats called FRAUD in any court of the land
Speak direct and in person with the dealership GENERAL MANAGER, and the SERVICE MANAGER
if the SM doesnt know what his/her staff is up too, or supports this type of ~story telling~ to the customer,,,,,,,
the GM/OWNER of the dealership needs to know about that
they pay acura corp big money to be dealers,
and the service dept reputation can make or break a dealer
its where the real money is made
On that survey card with your receipt--anything less than ALL 10s is considered a failing grade by corp, who does read every one of the cards- enters in database- CALLS customer to find out whats wrong, Calls dealer SM to find out why someone left unhappy, and the info ends up back at the dealer for weekly dept meeting review.
(If someone took really good care of you- note that = bonus point$ for them)
Its the SW job to make sure you understand whats needed, or was done-
and not let you leave until 100% satisfied
The tech plugged in the code reader and reported findings
based on that, and everyones duty to sell parts and labor,,$$ =
Sir, the best way to be sure you fixed A coil problem= is to replace all of them!!
spark plugs too of course
note, diy tends to cause a coil failure by setting it down hard--treat them like fine china or a few months later it quits without warning
Did I mention many SW are paid on commision?,, and its the slow time of year for repairs
every bit you can bring in towards your quota,,or start lugging those bowling balls
