soaked carpet on passenger side

It's been raining hard here in White Plains and when I got into my car this morning it smelled like a wet dog. I touched the passenger side floor mats and they were soaked. Not a little damnp, soaked like someone dumped 2 gallons of water on the floor or something. my windows were closed and the clothes I had on my back seat were still dry. I checked for leaks everywhere and can't find anything else that's wet except the floor. It seems like it started in the back and soaked up to the front only on the passenger side. The door panels were dry and still had dust on them so I know the water didn't drip down them. I think it came up from the bottom somehow. Could I have some rot somewhere or something? I heard that there may be rubber plugs on the underside of the car that may have been ripped out. I won't be able to get to a vacuum until this evening -- is it bad to have this water sitting on my floor for that long? Anybody have a similar problem or know what else I could look for?

Sounds like a plugged drain hose. Is there water in the trunk?

no water in the trunk or where the spare tire is. I really have no idea where the water came from.

I would probably say one of the passengerside/ or front drain tubes is plugged. Locating them can be tricky. It may be one of the moon roof tubs as well (but i believe that drains to the rear and drivers side)

Im trying to locate pics but am coming up empty handed. They run on the inside of the car to the outside. I know one comes out in the trunk area. The other ones are located behind the dash/firewall area to the underside of the car. There have been a few members that have had to dig for them and found they were plugged.

it could be your windsheild leaking, i do windsheilds and see it pretty often. do u know if it was ever replaced?

another thing ive seen, is that the water drain under the wiper cowl gets clogged, and when u get heavy downpours it could fill up high enough to overflow into the cabin air intake. im not sure if this is possibly on a tl since im not looking at the cowl now but its something to check out.

not to scare you, but it could be a leak from the firewall. The 1st Generation MDX's had them and it required some bodywork to fix it, remove fenders, cut some stuff and put some filler stuff. Search for it on acuramdx.org . Fits your description exactly.

I'll check some of those things. One thing though, it rained even harder about 3 months ago and I never ran into this problem so it's something new that has happened that caused it.
