occasionally while im driving the "side airbag off" light goes on in the cluster. is this normal or is there something wrong with the airbags? it only happens every once in a while but still worries me 2002 tl-s 64k

 

Is it the 'passenger side air bag off' light? Mine does that, too, when the passenger leans against it. When they straighten-up it goes off.

 

Mine does that when my laptop bag is sitting on the seat.

 

yea thats exactly what it does it says passenger side air bag off but its always when i have somebody in the passenger seat and yea its only when they lean up against it.. is that normal?

 

2002 & only 64k miles on it? nuts. i don't know how you guys do that but

 

you would be even more mad at me if you knew the price i paid lol... thanks bro its all about searching and patience and not settling for less. i consider myself extremely lucky cuz i dont know anybody with an 02 that has lower miles than mine.

Yes its normal, They are leaning towards teh door which shuts the airbag off for their protection. Light objects in the seat will often set it off as well

 

Beleive it or not,my side airbag light goes on when it's below 40 degrees(I'm in Fl.)Even when there is nothing on the seats.Above 40 no problem.--------

 

My passenger airbag light turns on and off randomly regardless of whether someone is sitting there or if they are moving around in the seat.

 

same here.. some days it can stay off all day or a few days then it always magically appears on one for a few seconds then goes off and repeats.. then magically stops for another day or few

 

my airbag does the same but usually wen i have a passenger or put my book bag on the seat

 

That is normal and what its supposed to do. (especially with your passenger leans towards the door)
