I own a 2002 tl and I lowered it about 4 months ago when the car had 60k miles on it. To lower it I put on Eibach pro-kit springs. I also replaced the front two shocks with tokico illumina adjustables and left the back two stock (i didn't have the money at the time to replace them). Now I have 68k miles on my car and I noticed when i go over bumps there is a loud thump noise coming from the left side of my car. It doesn't happen when i go slow over a speed bump, but only when i hit a pot hole while driving. I don't know what the noise is and if it is coming from the front or back. WOuld bad shocks be cause this noise or is there something else that would cause this noise? Also how would i be able to tell if my shocks went bad?

there are a lot of threads about thump noises
some have had some help when taken to dealer.
I dont remember everyones conclusion on it but im sure someone will let ya know.
I dont think it has anything to do with your lowering the car

 

well first it would help out to find which corner of the car it is. That noise could be many things. Bad ball joint is a good bet. Look at the shocks to see if they are damaged or leaking. look at the swaybar end links to make sure they are still inplace

 

Just to let everyone know, I took my car to the shop and my shock mounts were bad because when i lowered my car I forgot to put the stupid bump stops on my shocks on. $170 later they replaced my two front shock mounts and put in the bump stops. So every thing is all good now
