Seat belt reminder doesn't work

The seat belt indicator doesn't turn off on my dashboard and there is no sound. I've tried searching all over, but there's only threads about people asking how to disable the seatbelt reminder and no helpful responses.

What could cause this problem?

Where would I begin to troubleshoot?

I believe I saw another thread you made about an unplugged connector under the drivers seat, plug it back in and the light will work like it should.

I asked on another thread and some guy said it very likely was the back seat heat harness

Here's the thread ao you can follow up on what's happening.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...3#post15152513

Could that really be the reason that my seat belt reminder doesn't work?

Either way, I have to wait for a response to see what he says because it doesn't even appear to be anything that the harness can connect to.

I'll take my car to my friend's house tomorrow so we can remove the seat, but I'm not getting my hopes up for two reasons: there doesn’t appear to be anything that the harness can connect to (maybe previous owners did something to it) and I'm not sure if that one harness can cause the seat belt reminder to not function.

Anyway, I hope I'm dead wrong.

I'll check it out one last time before I go to my friend's house to remove the seat.

I have the dash lamp reminder which goes off when I connect the belt but never had any sonic prompt to buckle up.......nice and quiet.

Not sure if there is supposed to be any sound prompt ?

That seat belt indicator doesn't even show up for me. As far as the sound goes, I'm willing to bet there is a sound based on common sense and the fact that there many threads with people asking about how to disable the seat belt reminder lol.

Anyway, I removed the seat and there's nothing under there for that wire to connect to. Any other suggestions? Man, how I wish I knew an Acura/Honda tech who can tel me where that wire goes.

But I'm more concerned with how to get my seat belt reminder back.

A seat belt "reminder" shouldn't be an absolute necessity for a disciplined driver who is in the good habit of buckling up.....each and every time that he or she gets seated into the car.

The Factory Service Manual is your best friend when needing to know about electrical wiring diagrams.

I just had my seat out to fix the heaters (4 years owing the car and never fixed it) Follow the wire harness and you will see the connector.
Use this video as a reference :

I've seen the video before and even took pics of possible spots that the wire can go to, but no dice.

And like I said, I've checked underneath the seat when I removed it (and my friend did, too) and there was no where for that wire to connect to. Man, if I had known you were gonna take out your seats, I would've asked you to take a pic of where it goes.

My only other idea is, maybe that wire goes somewhere behind one of the plastic covers and I have to delve deeper into taking the seat apart to connect it. What do you think?

Oh, it's not about reminding me to put my seat belt on. Messing with the seat belt reminder could throw up the SRS light, so I'd like to get that in working order so I can figure out the cause.

Next thing I'm gonna tackle is the seat belt buckle. Gonna see if the previous owner(s) did anything to modify the sensor that tells the computer and the SRS whether the seat belt is buckled or not.

Try the reset procedure with everything connected, now that I see the connector it may be for the belt buckle.
I might take the seat back out cause I want to do a full interior cleaning so I may be able to provide you a picture with of all the connections.

Confirmed, it will set a code if disconnected.
I was expecting codes since I had the seat out and turned on the car to keep the battery alive since its on its last leg.

cant have any power hooked up when working on seats= disconn batt NEG and no backups- or it will trip an SRS light and false code

working on ANY electrical on the car with batt hooked up MAY trigger a false code
Its the First question I ask on here when post about mystery SRS light shows up
Done ANY electrical work right before this happened?

The seat belt light is simply a ground. The buckle latching in completes the ground thru the buckle into the chassis thus turning the light off.

There is NO seat belt sound in the 2nd gen, thus there is nothing to disable.

Thanks for explaining how it works.

No seat belt sound? Damn, I'm surprised a car from 2003 didn't have an audio insicator for a seat belt being unbuckled. Regardless, I don't even get the indicator on the cluster to show up, so there's still something at fault. I'm thinking it's either gotta be the sensor on the buckle or the bulb in the cluster burned out. I wonder what are the odds that the seat belt light bulb burned out? I mean, the other lights work fine and I'd bet that a light like D5 saw more action than the seat belt reminder.

I'm going to try the easiest step first and that ia the belt buckle.

Yup, this is the logical next stop. For all I know it could be nothing and the light goes away. And it'd be great if you could take some pics.

Im GLAD it doesnt have the sound reminder. Its the most annoying thing, especially with vehicles that dont let you change/turn off.

My guess is the seat belt latch, but it could be a short in the ground/wire

I'm no electrician, but I've studied what you posted and learned a bit about reading wiring diagrams. From what I gather, I should run a volt meter in A18 in the dash fuse/relay box in order to eliminate the possibility that it's not receiving proper volatage. If it is, I would then check the ground wire located in the belt buckle and for an open in the wire. If both of those don't check out, then the seat belt switch is at fault?

BTW, can anyone tell me what's an "open in the wire"?

Could be something loose, broken, cut or disconnected ?

I downloaded the Owner's Manual today to look at some stuff regarding maintenance. While looking around, I decided to look at where the seat belt reminder is exactly on the cluster. It turns out, there is a seat belt "beeper" (according to the Owner's Manual).

Here's a screen shot from the Owner's Manual: imgur: the simple image sharer
