Seafoam/Valve Cover Gaskets

Any DIY threads on how to do SEAFOAM or valve cover gaskets. When doing valve cover gaskets, what else do you try to repair or service while in that area.

Is there a DIY on clean EGR ports? Doing my today and will provide pictures

seafoam has several DIYS, the best is titled: seafoam diy- specifically for 03 (but works for all)
see DIY section https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-1999-2003-98/new-official-2nd-gen-tl-diy-thread-706083/

or the super-easy diy: 1 can in just under half tank of gas (8 gal)
do that twice = done with fuel, intake, combustion, and exhaust cleanings,
with no CEL or other concerns of the vac port method and its afterdrive procedure!

Seafoam in oil: 1/2 can and drive 30 minutes, drain oil warm

Must remove the intake manifold to reach the valve covers

egr cleaning inside Thermoblock install DIY
use wire rod / metal coat hanger to poke all the way thru from the big opening to the ports under egr valve
Get what you can out of the engine block side- use shop vac to keep crud from falling in.
Soak with deep creep or carb cleaner then poke or scrape.
perfection not required, just good as you can- its gets dirty every time the engine runs

Service/clean IACV and TB as part of the job (get a new TB to manifold gasket)
lube throttle return springs and throttle cables internally

valve cover gaskets: clean the sealing edges carefully to avoid scratching surface
ck the bolt gaskets condition,, and do not overtorque the bolts!!!
especially intake manifold main bolts- 16 foot pounds and no more!!!!

carb cleaner or deep creep, rags and patience are keys to this job

you are planning to adjust the valves while you are there right? well overdue for it and will help running and mpg
a `GO/ NO-GO feeler guage` is the best tool for the job
insert and it goes past the stop bump for that size = adjustment is loose
wont go in to the bump = adjustment is too tight
Goes in and stops at the bump = perfect!
