why do you guys think calling the dealer does any good towards free diy fix?
they are in the biz of making money
doing anything for free is not in their best interest
Sure they can remove the radio and get its serial number off the back, then look up code in system from there..at $125 per hour!!

wow, use google, don't clog the forums with old shit.
theres a sticker w/#'s on it located in ur glove box, that's ur radio code.
if that's not it, take the center console apart, take off ur radio and take it to the dealer

not all years have the factory sticker with the codes, thats only 1 or 2 years really
the rest of us look in owner book for card or maybe salesmens card with code hand written
Some owners write it on the edge of glovebox door or under a cover--look around you may get lucky
the places factory may put it is under fuse box covers under hood
When you do get them, register with www.owner.acura.com and you can store the codes on your account!
Old owner may have already stored them online and you can retrive that way!!
you dont have to remove the radio if you use the web to get code via VIN,,free or pay 10 bucks,, but it beats pulling the radio
The dealer is supposed to ask for an image-xerox-cellphone pic of seriel number of the back of your radio, and the car reg, to you to give the code free
Its security measure against someone--not anyone here- who is trying to make a stolen radio work..they wont have any of the needed info
You are all very honest people with legit need for code, and may not be asked for anything, but be prepared- and the dealer will look up for free once they have a unit number and car VIN

the OP is new here and we cut them a break on first failure to scroll thru thread list or learn our search feature or google with +acurazine.com after the info you are looking for
Plus most used cars dont have the owner manual with them to look in it for the codes
an observation: Your working knowledge of the system seems a bit limited, maybe to your car? like taking radio to dealer
Each year is different on where they put that sticker- if it was applied at all!
my 01 never had one..found on biz card in book

My code wasn't in the glovebox, but I experienced this. All I did was call Acura and had them redirect me to other people. One told me to look in my glovebox where the sticker should be, but the sticker wasn't even my car's radio code. I did further research thru google and ended up here, reading that a guy took his radio out and brought it to the dealership and got his code for free. Thinking I should do the same I took my center console off, took the radio out, and had seen that the code was written on the radio itself. I got the car with no manuals, so searching online was my best choice.
To each his own, we all find things one way or the other, but that was just my two cents to do more searching rather than clogging. I understand your POV though.
OP only made 1 post btw, and looks like he was in a rush to find his code.....

For being a newb, you managed to get the u and l numbers without much trouble. Based on those numbers, the code should be 53642. there's also a chance it could be 23421. Make sure you're in an underground location or a metal building, or a building with a metal roof. Often the radio won't take the code if it's getting any reception. The other way is to disconnect the antenna from the radio.

I went through this exercise about 4 years ago when my battery died, and even though I had the code, the radio would not take it. Neither my owner's manual nor the 02 Service Manual mention that the code might be rejected if the radio is receiving anything. I finally ended up taking it to the Aacura dealer and the service writer pulled the fuse, waited a few, re-inserted it,and then entered the code. But it may have been that the car was under a metal canopy when he did all of this. I'll find out later if this is true.
