Rough Idle problem
Rough Idle problem
I have a rough Idle condition that I'm trying to figure out.Just looking for any help with this. The problem just started a couple of days ago.I only really feel it when in park.the car just doen't idle like it should. There are no check engine lights on yet>other than that it runs fine,in gear no problem ,driving is fine.I changed the plugs and it did not improve. Also replaced the Idle air controll, just for the hell off it.Did not help.Any input on the would be great. Thanks
A dirty/sticky EGR valve can cause idle problems. Easy to remove (2 bolts) and clean with carb cleaner. Use a flat screwdriver to lift the pin and spray lots of cleaner in there, let it sit and repeat until it flows out clear. You will also need a new gasket to reinstall.
Another area of concern is the build-up of carbon gunk in the intake manifold egr-flow ports. Easy job, but the cleaning is tedious. Search for the egr port cleaning diy here. You also need to run a coat hanger from the main port in the intake right thru to the base of the EGR valve to clean out the gunk.
Also a good idea to clean the throttle body and air plate with carb cleaner.
As for your IACV, you could have cleaned it with carb cleaner instead of buying a new one.
