Resetting the Stereo?

Hey all, so my TL recently died and I jumped it and whatnot, but the stereo doesn't work. I have the 5-Digit code and it worked before, but this time around Acura said they would have to "manually reset the radio" by taking it out and charging me $60 bucks. I could get it done for $35 somewhere else, but I was wondering if theres another way to "reset" the stereo, maybe by taking out the fuse or something?

Is taking the stereo out my best bet?

Please help!!

Is it just not accepting the code?

yeah...i typed it in and it says error...The acura guy told me that if the battery dies the system wont allow the code to work even if its right. He said I had to manually reset the stereo by taking it out and whatnot.

Any ideas?

If it's not accepting the code you can try pulling the radio fuse or pulling the antenna connector out from the back of the radio. Search the forum as there are many posts about this.

Agree with Bob on this one- the ol pull the antenna plug trick seems to work for many people.

I was surprised to learn- the hard way- that short term battery disconnect reqiures only the radio code, but a few hours changing out the headlight housings---
will result in the Nav wanting its code, which I didnt have, and acura had replaced the dvd a few years ago on warranty and not recorded the new security code anywhere,,,wasnt that fun...at least they comped it~
