tip, when you tap and untap the wires, you need to do it quickly if not, its not going to work. it may take a couple of trys or maybe more but keep doing it until the light resets. also, take off that plastic cover off so you can pull the wire out to have better access to it. if resetting works and the light comes back on, i would advise taking the car into the dealership to get it tested. mine came on after doing the foglight mod and was because of a sensor of the side airbag that is still under warranty to i believe 10yrs/157K Miles
so its the small yellow connector plug thats pluged into the back of the fuse box not the big yellow plug thats spring loaded under it thanks alot guys
guys hold tight before you go nuts with all this -
I had the same problem for months, for the same reason- messing with ny fogs- went for my safety inspection at a local gas station i frequent and the mechanic reset it in minutes by just plugging in his computer. For free.never had an issue again

Sorry to Hi-jack this thread, but I have a question regarding the Yellow connector. I can only see one big Yellow connector with green wires. Is this the SRS module?
I have a 2000 TL and the Yellow Module ( SRS Module I believe ) is located directly beneath the steering column.
I have passed my warranty period which sucks. The Red SRS light came on after clicking on my seat belt and it must have sent an error code to the SRS.
Thank you all for your instructions on resetting the SRS light. I just want to make sure that I am looking at the right module.
Cheers

just in case anyone else comes looking for this info, i just did the procedure on my 2000 TL and it worked great.
there are 2 yellow connectors under there, the one you want is the smaller one which is the highest(furthest) one when you look up under the dash

If you have a problem, the light will come back on almost immediately after blinking twice. Doing the steps within the 4 secs windows is critical, as is getting a good connection with the wires in the plug. I used a bent paper clip as a jumper, but you have little room for error on the timing with that. Also, if you take off the lower dash cover it is much easier to access the yellow plug.

This was very helpful. I just swapped out my gauges (because of a burnt trace on the board) and my SRS light came on and I was really confused but after reading this I got it to turn off. Thanks allot
The procedure above resets the SRS 'system', whereas the module reset fixes the SRS module itself. Kind of confusing, but the module has a hard code it is throwing, which causes the SRS light to illuminate. Resetting the system as shown above clear all codes temporarily (for like a second), but if the SRS module or seatbelts are still throwing codes, the light in the dash comes right back on. Once you replace the SRS module and seatbelts, you have to do the procedure shown above to reset the system and (hopefully) clear the light for good.
Another way to say it that the procedure above will clear the light if all is good, but it doesn't 'fix' anything.
