Replaced Timing Belt Now Misfire?

On my '02 TL-S with 144k miles on it... Changed timing belt, water pump, PS belt, Alt belt, oil, coolant, etc.. Put it all back together, let it idle 5 mins (idles nice and smooth) and readjusted PS belt like the book said. Let it idle like 15 minutes more while I was cleaning up and then drove into town 5 miles to fill up with gas. On the way back home I step on it a little and once above about 3k rpms, engine light flashes. Back off of it, light stops. Park in driveway, slowly rev engine in park and a little over 3k the light starts flashing again, and the TCS light comes on this time too. 4 misfire codes pop up, the two random ones plus #1, and #5. Shut it off, rotate the crank to the right spot, check timing marks on both cams, both dead on the marks, so timing belt is correct. Any idea what this is?

Thanks,

Ben

Did you change spark plugs?

My guess is a bad coilpack, since the engine is running smooth and timing marks are dead on.

Reset the CEL and see if the codes come up again.

I was going to change plugs, but have not done them yet. All seems a little too coincidental, but maybe I'll do the plugs now and see what happens. Valve adjustment is first on the troubleshooting list in the book, but that just doesn't sit right with me since it was just fine before (even though it still needs to be done due to mileage).

Yea if its at 144k miles and never had the plugs changed, its time to change them anyway.

If you reset and still get the misfires after the spark plugs change, it's most likely a bad coilpack.

Hopefully I don't jinx myself in posting this, but I reset the computer and drove it 20 miles tonight, all the way to redline several times, and never threw another code. Go figure. Spoke to an Acura tech today who has done several hundred, and he's never seen it before. He looked in the Acura computer and nothing there either. I just wonder if it took the tensioner a while to adjust?
