Removing From Park/Radio

Ok, first let me say I am not mechanically inclined what-so-ever. I have no idea what is going on w/my 03 TL-Type S. I've only owned the car for about 4 months. Occasionally (once every 3-4 weeks), my car would go into what I call "theft-mode". By this I mean, it would not allow me to remove the gear shift from park, the power to the radio/power outlet does not exist, and the anti-theft light in the lower right hand corner continues to blink almost as to say "HAHAHAHAHA". I then called the Acura dealer to find out that they will charge me a nice $100 to run a diagnostic test on it, or I can just use the "trip" next to the gear shifter inorder to remove my car from park and live w/out the radio. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on??? It's almost as though the car doesn't read the key as an actual key. Thank you in advance to any help you guys might have!!!

most likely its the brake light switch - do your brake lights work?
its an easy cheap fix with a part that bolts on under the brake pedal- its a safety interlock, the little thing you are pushing next to the gearshift is the nuetral safety switch- it prevents you from trying to start the car in drive and is the emergency release if the brake switch dies

Take it to a private shop for these- very easy to diagnose and repair
the fee is to protect them from spending an hour figuring out the problem then you take it home and fix- if you have the work done there its included - no worries

sounds like an electrical problem, im guessing a loose wire or connection.
