Has anybody successfully swapped the rack and pinion off a Type S to a base TL ? I need to replace my rack and pinion and power steering pump soon and i was wondering if it possible.

 

Its possible. You will loose the variable assist power steering as the type-s doesnt have it. You wont be missing much, steering will feel a little more weighted and better feedback.

 

i also have to change the rack on my 99 3.2 tl however it has 6 lines attached n the replacement has only four. the extra 2 goes back to the tranny. it looks like ik have to block off these two. is there any harm in doing so . can anyone tell me whats the purpose of those two lines?

 

You need to loop them, They are for Variable assist as fsttyms1 explains it in his post.
