anyone having problems with a noisy purge control selonoid? mine seems too be ticking louder and louder.

 

Is that the same thing as a sphincter valve?

 

its a fairly common problem with the TL (usually worse in the colder months). if you are under warranty see if you can get the dealer to replace it for you.

I am having this same issue (I think). The temp here in Atlanta has been ranging from mid/up 80's to mid/up 90's so I don't know why mine has gotten louder if that is indeed the problem. As I step on the gas the ticking gets louder and increases with speed, I only here it under a load, in other words if I put it in Neutral or park and step on the gas I won't here it. I tried fuel injector cleaner and also a additive that suppose to quiet valve tapping, it got quieter(sp?) for a couple of days than came back. I thought it could have been a low oil issue at first, oil level was fine(using Mobil1 5W30, maybe it's to thin for the summer temps ). If this is indeed due to the purge solenoid is it something I can replace myself since I am out of warrenty? Part#??? Another possibilty could be an exhaust leak, I have had my OBX headers on for almost two years with no problems so i don't think it's them

I am getting a ticking as well, but it starts as soon as I start my car. Even when its in park, I hear this ticking.

Is this the same as your problem?

 

where is it coming from? the engine compartment or around the rear wheel on the drivers side

 

Well, I replaced the pressure control solenoid and I am still getting the damn ticking noise when I step on the gas when in drive. As stated before it does not tick when in park or neutral. Any other ideas?

Valve Tap ?? I need to replace my purge solenoid valve as well. Where do i find the DIY threads ?

I am also noticing a ticking noise near my front passenger side area - after a cold start, then it goes away. Is this related ??
