Has anybody tried the paperclip method on the ECU port to retrieve the more precise tranny's PCM codes ? Apparently it works on the 3rd Gens, tried it on mu 2000 TL and got everything else blinking except what was supposed to, duh ! Just curious if it actually works or not on our 2nd Gens ?
is that easier than a trip to autozone for a free reading with an obdi2?
note! harbor freight has them for under 100 dollars- for those in California where they are not allowed to free read for you- total bummer, but raised sales of the device to consumers!!
I have a regular code reader for basic trouble codes.
What I was referring to is a more precise detailed way to read the tranny codes similar to the special reader required for ABS problems. It's my understanding that the tranny shops and dealerships have a way to read these more specific tranny codes. Ya know, the technology is out there for the big shops to easier troubleshoot the exact fault. Our cars are soon going to be smarter than us !!!
Probably just putting off the inevitable with original "POS" tranny !!!
Basically, did the D & F's with DW1, replaced the filter, and been trying to clean the various solenoids.
Reader will come up with general P1750 tranny code, so.......ya know it's struggling.
Reverse takes awhile to engage, sometimes bangs. Just being a "PITA".
3.2tlc Check the control solenoid valves A/B right by the battery tray, Sometimes the black connector comes into contact with the tray and damages the connection.
Also make sure the valves actually move freely inside.
Lets say you put an AV6 trans and you swap over the solenoids, you could face the same issues.
Yeah, thanks ErickUa5 for the tip.
The P1750 code which indicates a mechanical problem within hydraulic system led me to to checking that A/T Clutch Pressure Control Valve linear set A & B which you showed in the above pic. The one on my car's tranny appeared much better than the one shown above. After pulling the valve's top and applying power to the solenoids, they seemed to work ok. The internal middle feed tube's bottom screen was gunked up, while the other's looked good. After road testing, problem persisted.....flashing D5 and CEL came back on with the P1750 code again.
As of now, I'm thinking of replacing the pressure switches and the shift control solenoid valve C.
