I got into my car today and it wouldn't start, no power or anything when I turned the key. I jumped it and the car started fine. However, once I turn the car off, its the same problem all over again. Do I just need to replace the battery or can it be something worse like the altenator or something. Thanks

 

Sounds like a dead battery. Bring your car to like sears or any decent place that sells batteries and they can load test teh battery and test the alternator for you.

 

ive had that same problem, but in my case it was a loose connection at the terminal. you should check it before buying anything. it could also be dirty, so just put a wire brush to it and that might fix the problem.

 

take a voltmeter, put your lights on and check the voltage !

 

DEFINITELY sounds like a dead battery. My alarm went off the other day so I ran outside my house with my knife thinkin some fool was tryin to steal my lights. I didnt find anybody and then later on when I was ready to go to work I wasnt getting any power at all. So I popped the hood, removed the battery terminals and cleaned them up a bit. Then the car started just fine and I thought everything was ok..until the next day when my car wouldnt start when I was ready to leave the mall. Luckily I was near a Firestone shop. They tested my electrical system and my battery was dead so I ended up buying a new one - Interstate 60month for 70 bucks.

 

check terminals and grounding points. probably your battery. if your alternator was dead a jump would not restart your car.
