I have a problem peeps my 02' tl (type s if that matters) just had the check engine light, the triangle with exclimation light & the vsa light come on car still shifts perfect mileage is 121500 does this mean my tranny is going out? A friend of mine hooked up his matco scanner & pulled a 740 code tcc malfunction is it my cars time to crap out?

be nice to the trans for the first 500 miles, then be reasonable with it next 500
no redline racing full throttle shifts--well a few to make sure its all working is ok- but IMO better to let the parts get to know each other before putting the hurt on them

did you get the 3/36 warranty with it?

Hey Sleepy6. Had you had the car for a while or why did they do the 90/10? I bought mine new 6 years ago and at 113K the tranny started to do some funky stuff this week. Any advice on what I need to do to get that kind of deal? How much have replacements cost most people anyway? I am figuring a couple of grand if I have to pay the whole thing.

As an alternative, thinking I could probably get a really good deal now on last year's TL model. Any similar tranny problems with that version TL anyone (I will also look in the forums)?

Thanks.

some VIN numbers get an extra coverage to 114k miles due to odometer error- you may qualify, and if not- you are just past the normal 109, so hooking you up should be easy
Just get the car in and diagnosed- they dont charge you the 100$ after its decided warranty covered or partial covered- thats included.
BUT I would expect full coverage
at most you should pay 500 labor to remove and replace the trans plus $300 for 3/36 warranty on trans

register with acura 1-800-382-2238 x5 and online
Both need VIN -look in recall and warranty sections after registering online to see your cars details
http://owners.acura.com/registration...erstepone.aspx

google should give the VIN range for the 114 warranty cars too

Thanks much for the info...I appreciate you taking the time to post it! Will call them this week to get it in there. There is a definite "drag" to the feel of the car these days and an occasional very rough shift.

I just looked on both Honda and Acura sites as well as google and could not find a link to the VIN range for the extended warranty. If anyone knows where to find this it would be appreciated if you could post it. Otherwise I will ask when I call to register on Monday (turns out I had registered online long ago).

the recall section explains the symptoms and details of the settlement
yours should say trans extended warranty 109
and there may be a seperate one- odometer error
if you cant find it on acura.com after you registered there, google it
