Please help! Think tranny failure?

Original owner of 2003 TL-S. I exited the highway and stopped at a light. The car accelerated, then it felt like the engine lost power or maybe it was the tranny. I had to pull to the side to prevent getting hit due to the car not accelerating. The engine was revving but the car wasn’t moving. Shifted through all gears but nothing happened. I’m guessing the tranny’s going out since it wasn’t engaging? No blinking D, CEL, or other warning lights were lit. As a result, it was towed to my garage where it’s remained for the past 2 weeks. Haven’t drive to prevent the risk of getting into an accident due to its current condition.

Can someone please help me? This is my second tranny that was installed in Nov. 2013 at 113K. 3 x 3 flushes have been done on the current tranny yearly using Honda DW-1 ATF (I only average 5k miles/yr). Last atf change was this past December. The atf is still pink with no burnt smell. Bought car brand new in May 2002. Current mileage is 156K. Just in case, does anyone know/recommend a reputable trustworthy tranny shop in the Marietta, GA area?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks in advance!

Dang, that sucks... Nov 2013 wasn't even long ago...

Does the tranny fluid smell burnt now?

If it is the tranny, get a 2006-07 Accord V6 tranny swapped in and be done with it failing....

Broken axle? If so, that's a cheap and easy fix.

Someone on here a few months ago though his tranny was on its way out and it was just an axle...

Checked the axle and linkage; both are good. Connected an Actron cp9690 scan tool and shifted through all gears. Tranny disengaged before warming up and threw a P0705 code (Transmission range sensor circuit malfunction) but no CEL. I know P0705 is a generic code as the specific Honda/Acura DTC is P1705. I’ve ordered the transmission range switch (aka neutral safety switch/gear position sensor). When the car was turned off and on, the tranny briefly engaged (whirring noise was heard coming from what appeared to be the tranny or tc during engagement only) and then no movement in any gear (maybe clogged shift solenoids?).

This is coming weekend, I’ll perform the diagnostic procedure specified in the service manual to determine if it’s really the switch. Feel somewhat better but know that it might not be the transmission range switch. Read that others got the same code but still turned out to be internal tranny damage.

Here’s to hoping it’s only the TRS!
