Placement of hid bulbs

When replacing hid bulb in a 2002 tl does it matter which way you place them? Looks like its possible to reinstall them in two differrent positions a 180 degrees apart. Is there a up or down on theses bulbs?...thank you in advanced!!!

yes -install the external thing up or down same as the bulb you pull straight out

watch the retainer clip is on secure-bulbs in tight etc

see diy section for help- need torx #20 security bit to remove plastic covers on rear of light housings

of course rubber or latex gloves when handeling bulbs- finger oils cause hot spots and early bulb death

+1 on the gloves^^^

Form what I remember the bulbs only seat in correctly one way? Just make sure the retaining clip snaps on and the bulb isn't moving. Study how the current ones are positioned before you take them out and copy for the new ones.

with the abilty to use 3 different bulbs in our setup- one can install the bulb wrong way up!
always look at what you are doing on removal

that clip is the pita~,,study it with small mirror or remove entire light housing to work on

...and disconnect the battery for at least 5 minutes before you do it. Just to be safe

its use of the headlight itself is what causes residual power to be in the HID parts
after shutdown

let the car sit at least an hour after lights use, or preferred overnight so everything is dead cold,,rather than you being cold dead~
