Pass side vibration

Hey all, when I'm under acceleration HW speeds I have a vibration I assume its axle related correct? I know the thing needs replacement anyway boot is busted. The previous owner just drove the ish out of it. Do these cars have a countershaft on them where the right axle is a half shaft basically?

Odds are you have a axle issue. 2 other things to check is your tierod and the carrier bearing for the intermediate axle that the p-side axle slides into for axle play.

Yes, there is a intermediate shaft with a carrier bearing in it that the axle slides into making it a equal length axle setup.

Part 17 is the intermediate shaft. I have a bearing going in that that is currently causing my acceleration vibration (hwy speeds) but i have 450k miles on it.

a new axle with cv bearings and new boots are ~$100 at NAPA auto parts
NEW is better option than rebuilt when you have a choice- for this part

torn boot means grease gone and grit in = total failure of part at very bad time

I know exactly what you mean 01tl4tl. I was referring to the carrier bearing setup that fsttyms1 has to have replaced on his. I have a local shop that is going to replace my axle with a NEW one for 175. Parts and labor, I don't think thats too bad.

You can get the bearing and seals thru the dealer (or the link below) for about 45 bucks, then you just have to have a shop press it in.

update

Hey all, I checked the axle and carrier bearing today and the carrier bearing is fine but the inner boot is busted also, didn't know that. It has play in it pretty bad so I can see why it has a vibration. I will update again tomorrow after I get the axle replaced.
