P0740 - Is this the end?
I am getting the dreaded P0740 on my 2003 TL(not the type s). I am aware that for most and likely myself included that is a sign of the death of my transmission. My problem is I am not getting any hard shifts or any noticeable problems. Is there anything else that can be causing the code? It will only trigger the code once I'm in 5th gear and it comes in within about a 1/4 mile of being in top gear. It never comes on in any other gear. The previous owner had it rebuilt at a transmission shop about 60k miles ago. So far I have replaced the solenoid and cleaned the pipes/screens. One screen had a tiny bit of debris in it but not completely clogged. The other two were completely clean. The 4th pipe(8x40) was also clean, although it did not have a screen in it(should it??). I have only done a single drain and fill so far using the Honda DW-1 fluid. I planned on doing another this weekend as I read to give it some miles between each drain and fill. The fluid was a little dirty but not especially so. I also changed the external transmission filter.
So I'm reaching out to thee experts here to see if there's anything else that might be causing the code but not showing any symptoms that are usually associated. I would really love to get another 20k miles out of her if at all possible. I know I can go for the AV6 swap but I'm not sure its even worth it with the value creeping ever downward. Any suggestions or thought are much appreciated!

My 2002 TL-S is generating a P0740 code even though the transmission is behaving normally. The code seems to generate after about 15 minutes of driving, (it doesn't seem to be generated only above 60 mph).
Checked the transmission fluid, it seems clean and full. (The transmission was overhauled about 4 years ago.)
Removed and inspected both solenoids; filters were clean––no debris, each solenoid produced a solid 5.5 ohms.
Not sure where to take the troubleshooting next.
