P1750 code, but I dont feel any difference. What should I do
Hey Guys,
This is my first post on Acurazine, I've been stalking for a while.
I have a 2003 TL type S that I've had for almost three years. Recently, I went traveling for 2 weeks. The first day back driving my car, I felt an extremely hard shift from 1st to 2nd and had CEL, ! Triangle, and D5 start flashing after a few blocks. Keep in mind, it was also about 15 degrees outside.
I parked and turned off the engine. After turning it on again after some time, only the CEL remained on. I needed to get to work, and couldn't get it checked out immediately, so the manual said I could nurse it just a few miles to work.
However, I noticed that after all that, it had no problem shifting through all the gears. It pretty much felt like normal. Regardless, I took it to autozone to get the code read. I got back code P1750
I know what that code means, and saw other people who had the same code. The problem was that they could feel a noticeable problem with the tranny, like slipping. My car feels normal, pulls and shifts fine once warm. I do trust my observational judgement when it comes to my car, because I once caught a break and steering problem when my mechanic friend drove my car and said it felt fine.
My question is, has anyone else had an experience where the car freaked, pulled the P1750 code, but felt completely fine afterward? And if so, what did you do to fix it, and what would you recommend? The local Acura dealer is asking $120 just for a full diagnosis, but if I can find out what is actually the solution myself, I can take the car to my usual guy.
All help is much appreciated! Thanks!

Just because you dont feel anything doesnt mean there isnt something wrong. The 1700 codes are usually early warning that a failure is about to happen. About the only thing You can do is to take the solenoids out and clean or replace them and do a 3x3 trans fluid drain fill clear the codes and see if the cel comes back and hope it doesnt.

make sure the battery is fully charged from driving 30 minutes at freeway cruise speed
THEN have the charging system tested at parts store and a code reading
that's free at most parts stores- Acura wont get any more info than the free read will
2 weeks parked in the severe cold will drain the battery enough to throw a false code

Update:
Thanks for the advice guys. After checking around on the forum, I decided to go with the trans flush with the right honda fluids and reset the CEL. 600 miles later, no CEL light and everything feels, drives, and is as fuel efficient as before!
As a follow up, I plan on doing another flush or drain and fill in about 5000 miles. Which would you guys recommend as a follow up to ensure longevity of the trans?

I personally would change the fluid again before 5000 miles, like in 1000-1500 miles. The new fluid breaks apart all the old stuff and clogs the internal filter a lot faster. Also change your inline filter under the battery box. That filter traps much of the clutch wear material.

Thanks musiclevelz5
By change the fluid, do you mean a transmission flush or just a drain and refill?
Also, how easy is it to change the filter? Will I be able to do it myself?

Flushing is something that is bad for these trans. The only way to change fluid is drain and filling. Get a case of dw1 at your local Honda/Acura dealer. I would drain and fill in another 1000 or so miles so you get all the gunk that the new fluid broke free out of the trans. Then its up to you when you change it. You could do it every oil change or every other one. The best thing to do with these trans is change fluid often. I personally change mine every 7500 miles. Absolutely no issues so far. Hope it works for you!

I changed my inline filter when I rebuilt my trans so it was very simple to do outside of the car. I am going to do it again here soon. I know there are some posts on here documenting how to change it while the trans is in the car. You should be able to find them with a search. If you cannot find anything on how to replace it let me know, I will find out.

the filter is a well covered subject of diy and main thread areas
flush by machine at trans store is not ok for the TL!! they use the wrong fluid too!!!
flush according to acura is a drain and refill 3 times in a row with 5 minute drives between, to move old fluid to drain area
That methods original intent was to remove all traces of dextron atf if accidentally added to trans- deadly to our trans - and number 1 fluid used by machine pressure flush method for other cars!

I got the same problem when I had to drive it in cold morning without warming up my car.
Car got flashing D5 , TCS and CEL on that day. After that only CEL was on.
I drove the car for couple days without any issue and thought to reset the system to see if the problem persist.
I took the fuse 9 out and put it back on, Turn on the car and CEL was gone.
Car is running good but I make sure to warm it up now.
Anyways everbody knows Acura transmissions are not always good so take care of your baby.
