oil help please.

I have over 250k I have always put 5w-30 full syn ...royal purp or mobile in with a oil stabilizer. My friend told me i need to put 20-50 or a thicker oil than 5-30 syn. and it will also quiet the engine. What would you guys recommend I think thicker oil means more work on the engine.

I don't think you need to change.

No need to Change! Specially if Using Syn Oil...
Quiet Down? If your engine makes sounds then its Valves must need Adjusting @250 You should at least done it a Couple of Times.

your buddy has bad advice,,this is a modern car not an 80 chevy truck

we run 5-30,,unless its really cold where you live then 0-20
book called for 5-20 for cafe fuel standards but was changed back to 5-30 when rules changed, as it provides better protection

the oil passages and ports are very small and 50 weight oil would not do well in them
Vtec is controlled by oil pressure and changes in oil pressure,,another reason to use correct weight
NO need for any stabilizer in the oil,,synth alone is fine

I like to run half a can of seafoam in oil for 30 minutes before oil change
gets crud out of those passages and ports, restores correct oil pressure!

Agree its time for a valve adjustment,,that will restore newness and remove some noises.
clean iacv on throttle and egr system inside intake manifold, while its removed to access valve covers

our mega-mod pulled his 00 engine apart at 200, cylinder walls still had the factory honing marks! like new inside at 200,000 miles...
so no-we dont need heavy oil to make up for lost anything at 250
